A daily workhorse.
The Ellis uses a lockback design so that you can do real work with a tool that locks; no more busted knuckles turning screws. Other features include a partially-serrated drop point blade, a combination bottle-opener and screwdriver, our "All Things"® scraper and pry and a bail loop for attaching to your keys, carabiner or backpack.
All day, every day.
We make knives and tools for people who live adventurously - for people like us. For those who aren’t content consuming other people’s stories, and who don’t wait around for other people to fix things. We're with you, from the pocket to the hand, and back again.
A daily workhorse.
We have updated the construction of the Ellis into a slip-joint design to make it easier to use. The new Ellis also features a new deep-carry wire clip as well as our “All-Things”® scraper, flat-head screwdriver and pry tool. The Ellis is built around a partially-serrated Swedish Sandvik 12C27 stainless-steel blade and is available in two different scale options. It will immediately become your daily multi-tool of choice.

EXPANDING THE UTILITY FAMILY
Minimal Form, Maximum Utility.
Born from the same lineage as the Elko, The Ellis was designed to be the in-pocket, multi-function knife that you’ll be reaching for multiple times a day. We asked ourselves “What things do you really need from a knife like this?”. We made sure that the Ellis had all of those functions, and then we ditched the rest. With a partially serrated blade, scissors, pry bar, and bent wire clip you won’t know how you ever got along without it.

A really well designed and built EDC. Lovely colour and very practical for everyday use. The single blade and scissors are ideal for my day to day use.

I purchased this knife, with a few key points in mind. The knife had to be easy to sharpen, easy to keep track of, and knife law carry legal in foreign countries, as I do a lot of travel, and this knife does the trick. It’s in my pack, as a second….

The James Brand Ellis is a terrific combination of elegance, practicality and aesthetics. It’s been distilled down to the 3 most necessary tools in my opinion. A pry bar which doubles as a screwdriver and lanyard anchor, the single most robust scissors of any brand or model currently being offered and of course the drop point blade which is offered in full edge or semi serrated like mine. That serrated edge would slice right through a seat belt with no problem. The attached, ultra reliable clip is perfect for front pocket carry. The Ellis is a textbook example of getting what you pay for. In this case you’ve paid for the finest craftsmanship available in the EDC arena today. A solid 10/10

The Ellis is a masterclass EDC - everything that you need and nothing that you don't. The black/black combination's minimalist, clean features provide a stylish and modern take on the classic multi-tool folder. I purchased the black/black combination and am very pleased with the look, feel and function.
Knife - very sharp, 50/50 serrated and clean edge combo is well done. Enough non-serrated edge to make me happy as I usually don't do the serrated combos. I'm happy with it.
Scissors - best scissors on a folder that I've seen thus far. I like how they don't automatically spring open when you pull them out and the thumb tab makes cutting so much easier. The advanced spring action and robust construction will make sure these last. Nothing flimsy here.
Pry bar/flat head tool - I've had to use my knife so many times to pry things open or try to fasten screws and it sucks. It's one of those things that you don't usually think of until you need it. A very thoughtful add on that will be used more often than most people think.
All in all - a fantastic knife that is now my preferred EDC. The only cons are the weight (it's heavy) and the pain quality/consistency. It looks like the blade and parts of the scissors are powder coated while other parts appear dipped/wet spray. I've had it only a short time and the paint is already chipping from the clip and the back edge of the scissors. Not a huge issue (it's a knife after all and meant to be used) but it is a noticeable difference from…

This is a great knife for someone who loves a good traditional knife and yet hates the idea of it falling out your pocket or like me hates when a knife lays horizontal instead of vertical in your pocket.
